Persian Meshkin Runner | 2' 5" × 10' 5"
- Description
- SPECS
The eye moves almost immediately along the centre of this Meshkin runner. Linked angular forms alternate between dark blue, rust, brown and cream, making a sequence that unfolds as you walk beside it. The changes in colour keep that sequence lively, while the repeated outlines hold the design together.
The pale passages are particularly effective against the darker motifs. They bring light into the composition and make the edges of each form easier to follow. Around them, a narrow, busy border acts like a continuous line, connecting the separate central elements over the full length of the runner.
At two feet five inches wide, this is a slender piece for a passage or for the long side of a bed, where the dimensions allow. It would be striking against a pale floor, with the dark pattern clearly outlined. Warm wood or rust-coloured accessories could bring out its earthy notes, while plain walls would give the central sequence space to be enjoyed.
Meshkin, or Meshkin Shahr, is part of the Ardabil weaving region in northwestern Iran. Regional scholarship places it within a network of weaving centres whose designs developed through contact among communities on both sides of the Aras River. The movement and adaptation of patterns helped sustain a varied geometric vocabulary. In this runner, the linked forms and alternating light and dark passages give that geometry a particularly strong sense of progression along the floor.

We strive to capture the rugs’ true colors in daylight photography, but they might appear slightly different in low-light environments or on different screen settings.
We’re happy to provide photos taken in different lighting or answer any questions.

Care Instructions
Vacuuming
Regular vacuuming keeps your rug looking its best and extends its lifespan, reducing the need for professional cleaning. For best results, vacuum both the front and back sides of the rug from side to side, avoiding the fringes.
Spills
If spills occur, blot them immediately with a cloth. Then spray water on the spot and blot again, repeating as needed. For pet urine, spray white vinegar to help break down the enzymes that cause odor.
Professional Rug Cleaning
It’s generally recommended to have your rug professionally cleaned every five years, but trust your instincts—if it appears to need cleaning, don’t hesitate to have it washed. Hand-knotted carpets should never be dry cleaned or steam cleaned. Wall-to-wall carpet cleaning companies are usually not a good option. Always choose a professional rug cleaner who specializes in cleaning fine, handwoven carpets. If you’re in the GTA, we can provide professional rug cleaning for you!
