The Heriz rug is one of the most popular village-woven rugs in Iran. Known for its geometric designs and harmonious plant-based colors, it attracts customers worldwide. These rugs are woven by hand, typically without using a hook. They are made with hand-spun wool and about four knots per centimeter, employing a symmetrical knotting technique.
Heriz is located near the road from Tabriz to the city of Ahar. The city has a long history of carpet weaving and holds global recognition in the carpet market. In the past, it was a hub for weaving high-quality wool and silk carpets. The quality was so high that Heriz rugs were often mistaken for Tabriz handwoven rugs. However, over time, silk rug production in this city ceased, and only woolen rugs continued to be produced. While Heriz rugs share similar designs and patterns, they offer great variety and are distinct from one another.
All Heriz rugs are authentic and made in Iran, which makes these cultural heritage objects more valuable.
