Oushak Rugs for Sale

Shop Oushak Rugs and Usak Esme Kilims

Oushak is the English trade spelling of Uşak, a weaving centre in western Anatolia with a long Ottoman carpet history. Museum collections and Turkish scholarship document historic medallion and star Uşak carpet groups, including fields built from repeated medallions. That history provides useful context, but it does not mean every rug sold under the Oushak name has the same design, materials, knot structure or date.

Separate Pile Rugs from Esme Flatweaves

The available selection brings a Turkish pile rug together with Uşak Eşme kilims. These are related by regional naming, not identical construction. A pile rug has a raised surface formed by knots, while a kilim is flatwoven without a knotted pile. This difference affects thickness, handle and how the textile sits under furniture. Eşme weaving also has its own regional layouts and geometric motif traditions, so it should not be treated as a thin version of every historic Oushak carpet.

Check each product page for exact dimensions, origin, fibre, construction, age, condition and restoration notes. Historic museum examples cannot establish those facts for a current listing.

Compare Turkish Rug Routes and Room Fit

Start with Turkish rugs for the wider Anatolian selection, or compare kilim rugs with pile rugs by construction. Browse large rugs when room coverage is the main requirement, and use the exact listed measurements to mark doors, furniture and walking paths. For broader historical context, read the guide to types of Oriental rugs. Greater Toronto Area & Hamilton customers can request Rug N' Roll to compare selected pieces in their own space.
