Origin: Herat, Afghanistan
Organic Sheep Wool on a Wool foundation
Dyed with vegetable dyes
Hand-knotted
Condition: New
This hand-knotted Afghan runner rug was made in the Herat province, the Western side of Afghanistan. It is made with 100% sheep wool, including the foundation itself. The density of the wool is 350,000 knots per square meter.
The pile of the rug is relatively low compared to other handmade runner rugs, which ensures the rug is durable and strong and lasts a really long time. Due to the fine fibers of the wool, it takes twice as much material to construct these kinds of wool, making the process harder and the end of the rug, much more valuable.
