Vacuuming:
Vacuuming regularly means you won’t have to get it professionally cleaned as often and it will definitely look nicer and last longer. For best results, vacuum front and back side of rug, from side to side, avoiding fringes.
Spills:
Avoid spills, but if they do occur, blot them immediately with a cloth, then spray water on the spot of the spill and blot again, and repeat as needed. Spray white vinegar on pet urine to help break down the enzymes that cause the bad odour.
Professional Rug Cleaning:
When needed, get your area rug cleaned. Otherwise, the dirt begins to grind, which is extremely damaging to the materials. The usual time to have your rug professionally cleaned is about 5 years, but you should trust your instincts. When your rugs appear to require cleaning, follow your instincts and have them washed. Hand knotted carpets should never be dry cleaned or steam cleaned. Wall to wall carpet cleaning companies are usually not a good option. Always choose professional rug cleaner who specialises in cleaning fine, handwoven carpets.
