Persian Ardabil Rug | 3' 6" × 4' 10"

- SPECS
This Ardabil rug has the presence of a much larger composition in a compact format. Three angular medallions sit along its centre, their dark blue outlines holding together rose, red and warm brown details. The light field is especially important: it separates the motifs so that the design stays legible even though there is plenty to discover within it.
Smaller geometric forms surround the medallions, and the border repeats little blocks of colour around the perimeter. Your eye moves between those two scales, from the large central shapes to the finer details at the edges. That combination gives the rug an animated character while keeping its overall structure orderly.
At three and a half feet wide, this would make an inviting accent beside a bed, in front of a small chest or within a reading corner. The cream ground could sit comfortably with pale walls, while a blue cushion or a piece of reddish wood would draw out colours already woven into the rug. Keep its centre reasonably open to enjoy the three-part composition.
Ardabil, in northwestern Iran, belongs to a weaving landscape shaped by longstanding contact with Aran across the Aras River. A Persian study of the two regions describes how patterns and decorative units circulated through cultural contact and Shahsevan movement, then took on local variations. Seen in that context, this rug's angular medallions are part of a broader regional conversation in geometry and colour, expressed here through a compact composition and a particularly light field.

We strive to capture the rugs’ true colors in daylight photography, but they might appear slightly different in low-light environments or on different screen settings.
We’re happy to provide photos taken in different lighting or answer any questions.

Care Instructions
Vacuuming
Regular vacuuming keeps your rug looking its best and extends its lifespan, reducing the need for professional cleaning. For best results, vacuum both the front and back sides of the rug from side to side, avoiding the fringes.
Spills
If spills occur, blot them immediately with a cloth. Then spray water on the spot and blot again, repeating as needed. For pet urine, spray white vinegar to help break down the enzymes that cause odor.
Professional Rug Cleaning
It’s generally recommended to have your rug professionally cleaned every five years, but trust your instincts—if it appears to need cleaning, don’t hesitate to have it washed. Hand-knotted carpets should never be dry cleaned or steam cleaned. Wall-to-wall carpet cleaning companies are usually not a good option. Always choose a professional rug cleaner who specializes in cleaning fine, handwoven carpets. If you’re in the GTA, we can provide professional rug cleaning for you!
