Persian Gorevan Heriz Rug | 8' x 11'
- Description
- SPECS
This rug was woven using native, locally sourced materials. In the past, most village rugs were made with materials found in the weavers’ own region, traditionally prepared and processed by the villagers themselves. This is one of the important reasons behind the strength, beauty, and captivating character of village rugs, qualities that can clearly be seen in this Goravan piece.
Although the rug is technically woven based on a quarter-repeat design, the abstract palm leaves, arranged in different directions and in varying colours, draw the eye like branches dancing in the wind. They allow the gaze to move freely across the field, and with a closer look, one may also imagine other intuitive motifs such as diamonds, squares, and zigzags within the composition.
Madder red is the dominant colour, combined with other harmonious tones to give the rug a rich reddish character. This quality not only brings a special sense of warmth to an interior, but also makes the rug easier to pair with suitable décor.
The border, rendered in deep navy, frames the rug beautifully. Within it, we see the eight-petalled flower motif, a symbol of the North Star, alongside the abstract Shah Abbasi flower, a motif closely associated with Persian culture and art. The abstract palm leaves embrace these motifs like protective arms, which may be interpreted as a symbol of safeguarding Persian art and heritage.

Care Instructions
Vacuuming
Regular vacuuming keeps your rug looking its best and extends its lifespan, reducing the need for professional cleaning. For best results, vacuum both the front and back sides of the rug from side to side, avoiding the fringes.
Spills
If spills occur, blot them immediately with a cloth. Then spray water on the spot and blot again, repeating as needed. For pet urine, spray white vinegar to help break down the enzymes that cause odor.
Professional Rug Cleaning
It’s generally recommended to have your rug professionally cleaned every five years, but trust your instincts—if it appears to need cleaning, don’t hesitate to have it washed. Hand-knotted carpets should never be dry cleaned or steam cleaned. Wall-to-wall carpet cleaning companies are usually not a good option. Always choose a professional rug cleaner who specializes in cleaning fine, handwoven carpets. If you’re in the GTA, we can provide professional rug cleaning for you!
