A Bakhtiari Garden in Madder Red
A very special Bakhtiari rug, featuring a field, medallion, and corner spandrels formed with repeating motifs of trees and flowers arranged within square panels.
This type of design can also be seen in rugs from the Joshaghan and Meymeh regions, although the quality and weaving technique in each of these areas carries its own distinct character.
An authentic madder red takes over both the field and the border of this rug. Although the weaver has used a wide range of colours freely throughout the details, the dominant impression remains beautifully rooted in this rich madder tone, even among the many intricate motifs.
