Kashan rugs originate from Kashan an oasis town along the Kavir desert, in central Iran. It is one of the oldest cities in Iran, with archeological excavations in the Sialk hills indicating that this area was the home of pre-historic humans. As early as the 17th century Kashan had a well established silk area rug industry. Kashan rugs is still woven in the time honored traditions of the old masters, utilizing the same basic designs. Coveting by kings, at one time it was commonplace to see Kashan rugs hanging on palace walls all over the world. It is for this reason that it is also referred to as “the palace carpet”. Extremely dense Persian knots are used to weave Kashan rugs, producing an exquisite object of art.
Please Consider
Please Consider
Our rugs are truly unique and crafted with care. However, please keep in mind that their vintage and handmade nature means they may have imperfections and signs of wear, which actually add character. Each rug is woven by hand, so it may not have a perfect rectangular shape.
Rest assured, we do our best to capture the rugs' true colors in daylight photography. However, they might appear slightly different in low-light environments. If you'd like, we're happy to provide photos taken in lower lighting or answer any questions. Your satisfaction is our top priority!

Care Instructions
Care Instructions
Vacuuming:
Vacuuming regularly means you won’t have to get it professionally cleaned as often and it will definitely look nicer and last longer. For best results, vacuum front and back side of rug, from side to side, avoiding fringes.
Spills:
Avoid spills, but if they do occur, blot them immediately with a cloth, then spray water on the spot of the spill and blot again, and repeat as needed. Spray white vinegar on pet urine to help break down the enzymes that cause the bad odour.
Professional Rug Cleaning:
When needed, get your area rug cleaned. Otherwise, the dirt begins to grind, which is extremely damaging to the materials. The usual time to have your rug professionally cleaned is about 5 years, but you should trust your instincts. When your rugs appear to require cleaning, follow your instincts and have them washed. Hand knotted carpets should never be dry cleaned or steam cleaned. Wall to wall carpet cleaning companies are usually not a good option. Always choose professional rug cleaner who specialises in cleaning fine, handwoven carpets.
Rug Pads:
Using a rug pad with your vintage rug will extend its life and provide extra traction and protection for your floors. More info
