Masqaran Qaradagh Runner | 2' 9" × 10' 8"
- Description
- SPECS
This Qaradagh runner draws its character from an earthy palette and a succession of angular medallions. Ochre and brown give the field warmth, while blue details introduce a cooler note. The colours sit close enough together to create a settled overall impression, with pale outlines helping the central forms remain distinct.
Look along its length and you can follow the movement from one larger motif to the next through the smaller connecting details. The surrounding field is richly worked, so the medallions feel embedded within the pattern. Several border bands add another scale of drawing, making the edges rewarding to examine as well as the centre.
At nearly eleven feet long, it could lend continuity to a hallway with several doorways or furnish a long, open strip beside a bed. Its ochre and brown tones would be sympathetic to aged timber, tan leather or warm off-white walls. A little blue elsewhere in the space could draw attention to the cooler details within the weaving.
Qaradagh is a historical weaving region of Iranian Azerbaijan. Nineteenth-century accounts already recorded carpet production there, while later scholarship describes connections among the region's Kurdish and Shahsevan weaving traditions and those of neighbouring areas. It is a landscape of overlapping design vocabularies, where geometric drawing has taken many forms. This runner's sequence of angular medallions offers its own expression of that regional character, with muted colour giving the larger shapes a measured, unhurried rhythm.

Care Instructions
Vacuuming
Regular vacuuming keeps your rug looking its best and extends its lifespan, reducing the need for professional cleaning. For best results, vacuum both the front and back sides of the rug from side to side, avoiding the fringes.
Spills
If spills occur, blot them immediately with a cloth. Then spray water on the spot and blot again, repeating as needed. For pet urine, spray white vinegar to help break down the enzymes that cause odor.
Professional Rug Cleaning
It’s generally recommended to have your rug professionally cleaned every five years, but trust your instincts—if it appears to need cleaning, don’t hesitate to have it washed. Hand-knotted carpets should never be dry cleaned or steam cleaned. Wall-to-wall carpet cleaning companies are usually not a good option. Always choose a professional rug cleaner who specializes in cleaning fine, handwoven carpets. If you’re in the GTA, we can provide professional rug cleaning for you!
