Measure the Complete Stair Route

Record tread depth, riser height, stair width, the total route and every landing or turn. Compare those measurements with the exact width and length on each listing and with a qualified installer's plan. Material needed for a continuous installation is not the same as the straight floor length because the textile must follow each tread and riser.

Edge clearance, underlay, fastening, pile height, flatweave structure and local requirements can all affect an installation. Do not assume a runner prevents slipping, fits standard stairs or can be installed safely without professional assessment.
