An olive green field fills this new Chobi rug, set with a lively garden of birds, animals and trees. Two lobed medallions, joined by pale blue scrolling stems, run down the centre. Around them, pairs of shapes that look like long-necked birds face one another, grey and gold animals move across the field, and tall cypress-like trees stand near the corners. Small blossoms in coral, sky blue and cream are scattered throughout, and the green shifts gently in tone across the field.
The wide ivory border carries large rosettes linked by a winding green vine, framed by a stepped coral inner guard and a narrow grey outer band. The large, open drawing and the ivory rosette-and-vine border recall the Sultanabad workshop rugs of the late 19th century, often called Ziegler rugs, which are a common model for Chobi weavers. The muted palette and softly washed surface give the rug the relaxed, aged look the style is known for.
Chobi rugs are a modern style woven in Pakistan and Afghanistan, drawing on older Persian designs. Birds, animals and trees in a garden setting have a long history in Persian carpets, and here they are reinterpreted in a lighter, contemporary palette.

Care Instructions
Vacuuming
Regular vacuuming keeps your rug looking its best and extends its lifespan, reducing the need for professional cleaning. For best results, vacuum both the front and back sides of the rug from side to side, avoiding the fringes.
Spills
If spills occur, blot them immediately with a cloth. Then spray water on the spot and blot again, repeating as needed. For pet urine, spray white vinegar to help break down the enzymes that cause odor.
Professional Rug Cleaning
Itโs generally recommended to have your rug professionally cleaned every five years, but trust your instinctsโif it appears to need cleaning, donโt hesitate to have it washed. Hand-knotted carpets should never be dry cleaned or steam cleaned. Wall-to-wall carpet cleaning companies are usually not a good option. Always choose a professional rug cleaner who specializes in cleaning fine, handwoven carpets. If youโre in the GTA, we can provide professional rug cleaning for you!
