Turkish Ezine Rug | 4' 8" x 5' 11"
"Rugs of this type, using a dual medallion as the main element of design, appear frequently in 15th-century paintings of both the Venetian and the Flemish schools. This pattern tradition survived into the 18th and even into the 19th century in Turkish village rugs of which this is an exceptionally powerful example.
The two octagons that fill almost all of the field enclose a small octagon in the centre from which radiate rectangular panels in a star-like fashion, filled with ‘latch-hook’ patterns. The central octagon contains a star-and-knot design commonly found in ‘Holbein’ rugs of the 16th century and used already in the 15th century. The balance of the field features rows of detached octagons with stars and rosette volutes in the corners which give a sense of movement to the otherwise compact and somewhat static design. The border pattern, although originally based on floral forms, is entirely broken up into geometric units."

Vacuuming regularly means you won’t have to get it professionally cleaned as often and it will definitely look nicer and last longer. For best results, vacuum front and back side of rug, from side to side, avoiding fringes.
Avoid spills, but if they do occur, blot them immediately with a cloth, then spray water on the spot of the spill and blot again, and repeat as needed. Spray white vinegar on pet urine to help break down the enzymes that cause the bad odour.
Professional Rug Cleaning:
When needed, get your area rug cleaned. Otherwise, the dirt begins to grind, which is extremely damaging to the materials. The usual time to have your rug professionally cleaned is about 5 years, but you should trust your instincts. When your rugs appear to require cleaning, follow your instincts and have them washed. Hand knotted carpets should never be dry cleaned or steam cleaned. Wall to wall carpet cleaning companies are usually not a good option. Always choose professional rug cleaner who specialises in cleaning fine, handwoven carpets.
Using a rug pad with your vintage rug will extend its life and provide extra traction and protection for your floors. More info
