The Best Persian Rugs in Toronto: 5 Shops Personally Vetted

The Best Persian Rugs in Toronto: 5 Shops Personally Vetted - Rug the Rock
Toronto’s multicultural vibe makes it a dream city for anyone hunting down authentic, culture-rich goods.

Over the decades, the local Iranian community has grown into one of the largest and most successful in Canada, and with it, Persian rug culture has flourished.

Collectors, dealers, and newcomers have brought countless heirloom-quality carpets into the city, so buyers are spoiled for choice.

That popularity, however, comes with a caveat: a handful of shops now sell look-alike pieces and mass-made “Persian-style” rugs under the same label.

I don’t see this as much elsewhere in Canada, so it pays to do a little homework before you hand over your credit card. Check each store’s background, ask where the rugs were sourced, and make sure they can speak confidently about wool quality, age, and weaving origins.

Below you’ll find the shops that made the cut after my latest round of in-person visits (and a few trusted friends’ experiences).

My criteria were simple:
  • Accurate product info – clear details on age, region, and materials
  • Genuine, verifiable pieces – no knock-offs passed off as authentic Persian
  • Friendly, knowledgeable staff
  • Transparent pricing – ideally posted online or offered up without hesitation

The list isn’t ranked. It started at twelve stores, dropped to ten, and shrank again once I’d seen them all up close. I hope these notes save you some legwork and help you land a rug you’ll love.

Yes, it’s ours, so I’m a little biased, but hear me out.

Honestly, we really are good (no false modesty! lol). We love the rugs we import, we enjoy being part of the community we live in, and we like interacting with people.

Because our business model focuses on online sales and on sourcing directly from weavers who make pieces especially for us or from local markets in Iran, our prices are much lower than the competition.

Starting March 2025 you can even shop in person at our Oakville studio! Cool, right?

  • Showroom visits: By appointment, 9 AM - 9 PM every day!

  • Address: 1131 Invicta Dr, #8, Oakville, ON L6H 4M1

Turco Persian Rug Company:

Arguably Toronto’s most famous Persian-rug house. They’ve been at it since 1906, and the selection is enormous, the website is excellent, and every piece has a visible price tag. Expect to pay a little more than at smaller shops; decades of reputation and top-tier service come at a premium.

    • Address: 452 Richmond St E, Toronto

    • Tip: If you see a piece you love online, grab its stock code and phone ahead; turnover is fast.

    Harmony Rugs:

A smaller, boutique-style store with a strong focus on tribal and village carpets. Knowledgeable staff and a tightly edited selection make it worth a look. Their website isn’t up to date and they don’t sell online, so a visit is essential.

      • Address: 732 St Clair Ave W, Toronto

      • Heads-up: No e-commerce, call or DM for availability before you drive across town.

      Blue Paisley:

Polite, patient staff and a well-curated spread of both traditional and contemporary Persian carpets. Website inventory is up-to-date, and prices are listed, which I love. My in-store experience was relaxed and completely pressure-free.

        • Address: 1440 Bathurst St, Suite 101, Toronto

        Lashar Rugs Toronto:

You’ll see plenty of “Persian-design” replicated pieces here, but dig a little deeper and you’ll find genuine hand-knotted oriental rugs from Iran, Afghanistan and Turkey. Good hunting ground if you’re on a tighter budget.

          • Address: 982 Danforth Ave, Toronto

          Final Words:

This guide is based on my own (limited) experience and on reviews I consider reliable. Store inventories change and staff come and go, so double-check details before you head out. I can’t take responsibility for any issues that might arise, but I hope this list makes your rug search easier. If you visit a shop—whether you love it or hate it—let me know. I’ll investigate and update the guide so future readers get the best possible information.
